Capoeira Angola St Louis is a not for profit organization which provides the St Louis community with classes in the traditional form of Capoeira Angola. We are a satellite group under the Centro Esportivo de Capoeira Angola (CECA) led by Mestre Pe de Chumbo. Classes are taught by Jesse, a trenel graduated under Mestre Pe de Chumbo.

Diversity Awareness Partnership Workshop

The St Louis capoeira group held a special beginners workshop for the youth enrolled in the Diversity Awareness Partnership (DAP) summer program. Trenel Jesse and several students led these youth in movement and music. Participant learned some history, Portuguese and a few even played capoeira in the concluding roda. Thanks to everyone who participated!

 

Capoeira Encounter with Contra Mestre Iuri

The St Louis Capoeira Angola group will be traveling to Bloominton IN to learn from Conta Mestre Iuri June 18-20. This retreat called "Camping, Capoeira & Community" is open to anone interested in extending their knowledge of capoeira angola and meeting other members of our Mid-West capoeira angola family. 

Mid-West Capoeira Angola Workshop Canceled

Due to visa complications, Mestre Pe de Chumbo will no longer be coming to St Louis for this event. The event has been canceled. Please keep in touch for our next event.


 

 

Capoeira Encounter in Asheville, NC

St Louis capoeira students traveled to Asheville and united with their capoeira family in a 3-day long encounter. St Louis capoeiristas helped the group renovate a new community arts space, trained capoeira angola and performed with the Asheville group. Check out the Photo Gallery for pictures of the event!

 

Pastinha Event

Thanks to help from the various capoeiristas, the Pastinha Remembrance Event was a huge success! Attended by more than 20 people from many capoeira groups around the area, the event featured lectures, discussions, rodas and great Brazilian food!
